upcycled tin cans
You would never even know these beautiful planters were soup cans until I told you! Aren’t they so beautiful?
It’s crazy how many things we can actually make if we just use a little creativity. These upcycled tin cans are one of my favorite projects to date. Right alongside these upcycled Bath and Body Works candle jars made into planters. Both cost me next to nothing to make! My favorite kind of home decor is the kind I can make for cheap.
I was really needing some new decor to go on my DIY floating shelves I finished recently and these upcycled tin cans couldn’t have been more perfect. Plus they are super simple to make! I think these would make some really great gifts for friends and family also.

How to make your own upcycled tin cans
First, you’re going to want to remove the labels from your cans, these usually come off without leaving much residue but if you need to you can use goo gone to remove the stickiness.
Next paint your cans with Waverly Chalk paint, I did 2 coats. Any chalk paint would be fine Waverly brand is just one of my favorites because I can get it affordably priced at my local Walmart.
Once its all painted just add your twine around the top by wrapping it around 2 times and then knotting it. Cut off your excess.
Now place your floral foam into the bottom of your can and add your picks however you like. I used the hydrangea floral picks linked above and used 2 for each and they filled up my cans perfectly.
And then you’re done. Now, how easy is that?
This DIY project cost me only $3.00 for the floral foam and floral picks. You can not beat that price! And I seriously love how they turned out. So stinkin’ cute!
